Thai SEC wants to send CFOs back to school ... again

The regulator wants to set the bar higher for financial reporting and internal controls. But its proposal is identical to one it put out six months ago, confusing observers.

CFOs in Thailand may have to undergo further education to ensure they understand their responsibilities for financial reporting and internal control systems, Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said on October 27. In a press release, the SEC said it was seeking comment on proposed qualification rules for CFOs and accountants of companies engaging in initial public offering, but it is unclear why it decided to seek comment again following a nearly identical proposal in May.
