Amazon’s first quarterly loss in years

Amazon.com has posted a rare quarterly loss.The retailer blames it on its stake in LivingSocial, heavy investment in its e-reader and the China market.

What:  The US online retailer has reported a net third-quarter loss of $274 million, the first time in the same period since 2003. The sharp decline has surprised many as it  reported a net gain of $63 million in the same quarter last year.
