US Fed hikes rates 0.25%

The US Federal Reserve has increased the benchmark interest rate by 0.25% to a target range of 3.75% to 4%.

The US Federal Reserve's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has voted 12 to zero to raise rates by 0.25% to a range of 3.75% to 4% in a meeting on September 16. It is the first rate hike from the Fed since 2023 and comes after four rate cuts.
