Jakarta's woeful traffic isn’t the only thing CFOs and treasurers are waiting on in Indonesia. Local CFOs and treasurers report frustratingly long waiting times of between eight months to a year for VAT refunds. This is contrary to Europe where exporters often receive their cash within three months. Under South African law, the process must take no more than 21 days.
