Global remittance giant Western Union has reported wider use of the renminbi for payments to Chinese companies and exporters.

Since offering direct renminbi payments last June in 28 countries, Western Union Business Solutions, the corporate payment arm of the New York-listed fund transfer company, saw its American clients’ renminbi payments to China increase by more than 15% in the second quarter this year, compared to the previous three months.
