Analysis: HSBC's Asia 'pivot' - the strengths and weaknesses

HSBC’s strategic push to Asia promises explicit investment in transaction banking platforms and lending rates set to undercut existing lenders*, but the shift will be far less substantial than presumed.

On June 6, Stuart Gulliver, CEO of HSBC Holdings, announced the bank would make a “pivot to Asia” as part of a 10-point ongoing transformation from being “The World’s Local Bank” to the “Leading International Bank”.
