San Miguel treasurer: go local in the Philippines

Speaking at CT’s 8th Annual Corporate Treasury & CFO Summit in the Philippines, Sergio Edeza offered insights into how he approached the challenge of raising money.

It's probably best known for the near-ubiquitous beer that carries its name, but San Miguel Corporation is about so much more than food and beverages. With some 18,000 employees in the Philippines, the company's interests span power, infrastructure, oil and property at home and abroad. According to the company website, it generates about five per cent of the country's gross domestic product.
