
Philippines not ready for a CBDC – BSP governor
Speaking to reporters at an international media conference last week, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) governor, Benjamin E. Diokno, confirmed the central bank has no immediate plans to roll out a digital peso.

The Philippines has been studying the use cases and benefits of digital fiat currencies, but it is not ready to implement its own central bank digital currency (CDBC), its central bank governor said at an international press conference last Wednesday (February 9).
